LaTosha Gibson's Bio:
LaTosha Gibson is a mechanical engineer in the energy industry who is passionate about marrying the goals of maintaining the quality of life and sustainability. Her stamina, resilience, and my independent nature to learn on demand have resulted in a consistent track record toward significant contributions toward interdisciplinary projects.
SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Drove project success by simulating a 375MW co-gasification combined cycle plant utilizing 70% coal and 30% biomass, with 51% efficiency showing a potential reduction of $2,180,000 in total annual cost of operation, compared to a 90% coal/10% biomass co-gasification combined cycle power plant. Assessed feasibility of a co-gasification plant based on availability, emissions, and capital/operating costs.
Optimized results by developing an “industrial” friendly model that partitioned the particle size distribution of Pittsburgh 8 Coal into slag, flyash, and synthetic gas that demonstrated a 40% reduction in flyash through changing the average particle size by adjusting the grinding circuit with potential savings of $503,300 per year.
Demonstrated ingenuity and analytical thinking abilities while co-developing a simulation of a large frame gas turbine as part of the Clean Coal Power Initiative showing an 8% increase in power output for hydrogen gas versus natural gas; resulted in a potential net yearly revenue of $7,360,000 (during the novelty of hydrogen combustion in gas turbine).
